Sally’s Studio

  My quest for COLOR

I started painting murals on the basement walls as a child. My bedroom was a purple experience. All thanks to a mother who bought me paints and gave me walls, barns and even their travel trailer to use as a canvas.

As an adult I studied art education and taught art. My life changed at the age of 50 when I returned to  college for a Masters in Art Education.  There I discovered silk painting with dyes and strong rich colors.

Thus began my quest for COLOR.

In 2003, I received the distinctive award of “State Art Teacher of the Year.” What a way to retire and that I did in June 2004.

I am now a full time  artist!

My studio is located in Clear Lake, Iowa. The beautiful flat land, cornfields, flower gardens and endless sky are my inspiration.

With the help of a husband, who can build anything, we put together a studio with custom made frames, storage units and work tables.

Text Box: Six years ago I joined the art circuit  traveling and selling my silk scarves and wall hangings at Fine Art shows throughout the Midwest.
Retirement affords my husband (second in command) and I, the opportunity to travel across the U.S. participating in shows from Arizona to Minneapolis.
I am thankful for my gift of color and am
delighted when people say my colors bring
them happiness.
